A.J. Ruggieri has a primary focus in Business and Real Estate transactions with an accompanying practice in Criminal and Traffic defense.  In addition to his law degree, he has an LL.M. (masters of law) in corporate law and finance.  A.J. predominately focuses his practice at home, in Central Illinois, but has also represented clients throughout the state, country, and internationally.

A.J. is a native of Central Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois in 2004 with a double bachelor’s in political science and Spanish. He then spent time as a small business operations manager, court room interpreter (Spanish language), and police officer before being deployed with the Illinois National Guard to Afghanistan.  Upon his return he was admitted and graduated from Western Michigan Cooley Law School Cum Lade in 2011 and again with an LL.M. in 2012.  After graduation he began his law career as a prosecutor for the Champaign County State’s Attorney’s office where he went from traffic court to felony cases spending most of his time as a DUI prosecutor.  Several years later he went into private practice, first with Steigmann Law PC and then with Meyer Capel a professional corporation, before founding his own firm, Ruggieri P.C.

A.J. is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and serves on the Board of Governors for the Champaign County Bar association where he has previously served as treasurer and vice-president.  A.J. was selected as Central Illinois Business magazine’s “40 under 40” in 2009 and has been awarded a bronze star, combat infantry badge, and Army commendation medal among other recognition for his continued service in the Illinois Army National Guard.  A.J. ran for and was elected as a Trustee for the Village of Savoy until April 2021.  A.J. enjoys living in Savoy with wife and three children.
